The reason behind the cancellation is an economic reality. Production costs and artist fees have risen sharply, while revenues across the festival market have largely stagnated. With competitive pressure increasing and expenses climbing far faster than income, the organisers have confirmed that continuing GGZ in 2026 is no longer financially viable.
Instead of pushing forward with a compromised edition, the team has decided to suspend Germany Goes Zrce for the time being.
Whether GGZ returns in the future will depend on how the market develops. Nothing is promised — but it isn’t being ruled out either.
For now, all we can say as fans is thank you. Thank you to everyone who booked, danced, travelled, supported the crews behind the scenes, and helped build the GGZ family year after year. You made it more than a festival — you made it a tradition. We wish the community and the organisers strength for what comes next, and we hope GGZ finds the right moment to return when the conditions are worthy of what it has been.
